Cancellations Due to Weather

Due to the forecasted blizzard conditions on Wednesday and Thursday this week, Christ Lutheran Church is cancelling all events on Wednesday, February 22nd and Thursday, February 23rd. This includes the 1:30 PM and 7 PM Ash Wednesday worship services and the Thursday WELCA Brunch. For those who wish to still observe Ash Wednesday in some way, below is a small guided self-worship from Pastor Elizabeth that you can perform at home. Stay safe, and God bless!
For those who wish to observe Ash Wednesday at home, an offering:

Set a timer for 5 minutes.

Clear a space where you can place a visual reminder of God’s love. For example, light a candle, open a Bible, place a photo of a loved one on the table.

Set a timer for 15 minutes.

Say the Lord’s Prayer

Read Genesis. Here’s a suggestion from chapter
“In the day that the Lord[b] God made the earth and the heavens, 5 when no plant of the field was yet in the earth and no vegetation of the field had yet sprung up—for the Lord God had not caused it to rain upon the earth, and there was no one to till the ground, 6 but a stream would rise from the earth and water the whole face of the ground— 7 then the Lord God formed man from the dust of the ground[c] and breathed into his nostrils the breath of life, and the man became a living being. 8 And the Lord God planted a garden….15 The Lord God took the man and put him in the garden of Eden to till it and keep it. 16 And the Lord God commanded the man, “You may freely eat of every tree of the garden, 17 but of the tree of the knowledge of good and evil you shall not eat, for in the day that you eat of it you shall die.”

Make a list of everything you feel thankful for.
Make a list of anything you feel sorry about.
Ask God to shine the light of Jesus’ love onto your list.

Close with this Prayer
Almighty and ever-living God, you hate nothing you have made, and you forgive the sins of all who are penitent. Create in us new and honest hearts, so that, truly repenting of our sins, we may receive from you, the God of all mercy, full pardon and forgiveness through your Son, Jesus Christ, our Savior and Lord, who lives and reigns with you and the Holy Spirit, one God, now and forever.
Amen.
